WET hotel is centrally located in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. Using the peculiar Costa Rican convention, “100 meters east of Banco Nacional”. Given that we are now in the 21st Century, here’s a Google pin!

Liberia International Airport (LIR) is an hour drive away, and offers direct flights to many major cities. Tamarindo also has a small airport (TNO) with direct flights to Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) in Alajuela, close to San José.
We can arrange ground transportation for you – just say the word!
Side note: LIR is variously known as Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport as well as Guanacaste Airport, just to keep travelers guessing!
Tamarindo is famous for offering surf for everyone, from first time beginners (we can help!), all the way up to lifelong surfers, and many nearby beaches add more variety to the lineup, from the hollow beach breaks of Playa Grande to the north, to the reef break / rivermouth combo of Langosta, the varied breaks of Avellanas, to the world-class Playa Negra to the south.
Renowned Witches Rock and Ollie’s Point are also accessible via boat, to name a few of the myriad options.
Ziplining has long been a “must do” on the Costa Rica checklist, and we can help you check that box right around the corner, just up the street, or a little further down the road!
Hang on tight and play follow the leader! There is a variety of offerings in the motorized category, including ATV’s, (side-by-side) UTV’s, and buggies.
We have kayaking in a few flavors, ocean, river and mangrove estuary!
Costa Rica is world famous for sport fishing, and both Tamarindo and nearby Flamingo are well served by outstanding charters. Inquiries within!
A great way to get out for a sail and snorkel is with one of our Tamarindo sunset cruise operators – an unforgettable afternoon delight!
Yeah, we have that too!
Nearby Rincon de la Vieja Volcano National Park lets you easily check another couple of boxes off your Costa Rica checklist…it’s a blast!
Nearby Rio Celeste in Tenorio Volcano National Park offers a full day adventure in wonderland…preview the otherworldly color of the river by gazing at the accent wall in our reception!
White knuckle it down the Tenorio River up the road a bit, because adrenaline does the body good!
…and lest we forget,
Yoga, horseback riding, mountain biking, tennis, pickleball, and golf at nearby Hacienda Pinilla and Reserva Conchal.
Beach cruisers for rent, golf carts to run around town, and of course, shopping, spas and casinos.
Our concierge has a finger on the pulse, so you can side step the internet noise and arrive at the ideal destination…directly!
Costa Rica, and in turn, WET hotel, does not just talk the talk. We walk the walk!
Costa Rican electricity is generated almost entirely from renewable sources, and when the lights go out (it happens from time to time), WET hotel keeps the party going with an LP generator, a far cleaner alternative to diesel.
WET hotel transforms wastewater into irrigation nectar, returning our precious resource to Mother Earth, supercharged with nutrients, thereby closing the loop while adding value in the process.
Tamarindo is a walkable town, so take it a step further and ditch the rental car.
Costa Rica is affectionately known as the “Switzerland of the Americas”. This refers to the fact that it has no army, but it also alludes to the peaceful nature of the country and its people. Like most tourist destinations, visitors should be mindful of their belongings and not tempt fate by leaving cars unlocked, valuables unattended, or in plain sight (even in a locked car).
Our rooms all offer a large, laptop sized safe and we encourage you to make use of it.
WET hotel staff excel at keeping your room in pristine condition, even if you don’t! We will sanitize your room and make up your bed every day, unless you prefer us not to. Bedding and towels are always changed between guests. We do encourage you to hang up your towels between uses, helping save our vital water resources. We will change your linens upon request.
Each hotel room has an independent air conditioning unit known as a mini-split, meaning you are not sharing cooled air with your neighbor, and our restaurant, lounge and bar is open air.
Costa Rica is tropical. At 10 degrees north of the equator, it gets hot! The country has distinct micro-climates, with Guanacaste province (where Tamarindo is located) considered tropical dry forest. This means that we enjoy most of our rain between May and October, with November transitioning to the dry season, which runs until early May. Even during the “Green Season”, we enjoy many sunny days and partly sunny days, with late afternoon or evening showers. During the “Dry Season”, a rain event is quite rare.
Expect daytime highs in the 80’s (Fahrenheit!) and balmy evenings in the 70’s. It does dip down into the upper 60’s at night from time to time (most likely in September and October), but still no need to pack a sweater for Tamarindo. You should pack something warm if you are traveling to Monteverde, Arenal, La Fortuna, or any other region at altitude.
Bring your positive attitude and sunscreen! Tamarindo is laid back, so no need to dress up, but if you like to, we love to see your style.
The U.S. dollar is widely accepted throughout Costa Rica, and there is an ATM practically next door to the hotel, which dispenses local currency (the Costa Rican colón) and U.S. dollars.
Credit cards are also widely accepted, but it’s always a good idea to have some petty cash on hand.
Mosquitos do some nibbling around sunset, especially during Green Season, so if you have an organic repellant you like, do bring it with. We keep repellant handy, but it does contain a smidge of DEET.
